ImageYear by year, Buddhism in Australia is developing and diversifying.

In our multicultural society there are many immigrant groups for whom a Buddhist tradition was a part of the culture they have come from. For Anglo-Australians, Buddhism is something to discover and learn about. As there are many different traditions of Buddhism in Asia, those of us for whom Buddhism is something new have the special opportunity of finding a tradition that is peculiarly suited to our own personality.

This ability to choose a tradition is a privilege not always accorded to those in traditional societies, and is one of the bonuses of living in a western country like Australia.
